The Code

Since 2016, we have been a proud member of 'The Code,' supporting child protection against all forms of exploitation, including commercial and sexual exploitation in the travel and tourism industry.

ABOUT THE CODE
'The Code' (short for “The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism”) is a multi-stakeholder initiative with the mission to raise awareness, provide tools, and offer support to the tourism industry to prevent the sexual exploitation of children. This exploitation encompasses a wide range of abuses, including prostitution, pornography, the production of online child abuse material, child trafficking, and travel products that put children at risk, such as voluntourism, orphanage tourism, and mega sporting events.According to the Global Study, no country is immune to this crime, and the tourism and travel industry is in a unique position to prevent the sexual exploitation of children. By becoming a member of.

The Code, companies commit to six essential steps, known as the Six Criteria of The Code:
1. Establishing a policy and procedures against the sexual exploitation of children.
2. Training employees on how to recognize and report potential cases of child abuse.
3. Including clauses in supplier contracts that enforce a zero-tolerance policy toward child exploitation.
4. Providing information to travelers on how to recognize and report suspected abuse.
5. Engaging with and informing key stakeholders about child protection.
6. Reporting annually on the company’s progress to help publicize the work being done.
